Glenda Philpott (seen above) co-founder of Fearless Flyers, has received the Order of Australia award for her 30 years of voluntary work for the clinic, dedicated to helping people overcome their fear of flying.

As with most fears, a fear of flying can be overcome with a combination of education, therapeutic techniques and desensitization within a supportive environment.

You will meet some of our graduates during the course and have the opportunity to speak with them about their experiences.

The following are some comments from the many letters sent to us by graduates:

Attending your course took a lot of courage at first but it was decision that changed my life. I learned so much about aviation that now I have a background of facts on which to revise my thinking about flying rather than my ungrounded fears which were fuelled by newspapers. My successful flight back to my birthplace after years of broken promises proved to me that I could change my long fear of flying.
Before attending the course I had to travel to most of my business meetings by train. It was getting so often that all the staff on the Southern Aurora knew me by name. Since graduating I have flown over 40 times.
Attending the course was a very important decision in my life. Now I know how the plane gets up there, stays up there, all the sounds, pilot training, aircraft maintainence etc! I want you to know I am flying to San Francisco too. I would have never been able to consider such a trip prior to attending the Fearless Flyers course. Not only did it help rid me of my fear of flying but it also helped me rid myself of feelings of inadequacy. You are beautiful people.
I don't think I've landed yet. Saturday, 10th May is a day I will not easily forget. After 47 years on this Earth I didn't ever think I would ever see the inside of an aeroplane, let alone from 35000 feet. The thrill and charge I got from flying and conquering what I believed was impossible is unbelievable.
